Unfoldment of Good

Sometimes life feels rough and like we are swimming up a stream, up a river without a paddle, grinding gears, the list goes on. It can be easy to fall into the mindset that confirms the point of view that life is working against you.

Notice your thoughts when you hit a red light when you are in a bad mood and late versus when you hit the same red light when you are in a good mood and needed to put on that final touch of makeup.

What are your thoughts when you hit the light in both scenarios? The light hasn’t changed; just your thoughts and emotions about it have changed. In the words of William Shakespear, “There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so”.

If you hit a red light in a bad mood and are absolutely pissed, that is okay. Just notice what is happening in your mind and body. Don’t attach judgment or extra emotions to the anger because that just fuels the emotional fire. Simply observe.

Now that you are in a neutral space of just observing, let's start looking for the unfoldment of good. When you are out and about, look for people interacting with each other. The smiles, giggles, helping each other, music, whistling, singing, ice cream, flowers, the ocean, sunset. Simply look for things you love. The more you think about it, the more you see it. It is like when you buy a new car and then all of the sudden you see the same car everywhere. Now that you have an awareness of it, more good will start popping up… but in actuality it has been there all along. You are just in a mindset to have that awareness now.

Notice how your days are different when you are in the mindset of observing the goodness of life. How are your thoughts different? How are you feelings different. What are your overall feelings about life?

Just notice it all…
